PAST CLUB NEWS & EVENTS
Grand National Social Tournament Saturday 9th April 2:00 - 4:45pm
This was a handicapped event where everyone had a chance to play up to six short matches with different partners and opponents. There is no need to come with a partner. Older juniors who feel capable of playing in a tournament with adults are most welcome. There will be a small fee of £3.50 to cover the cost of balls, prizes and entry to the Grand National draw.
Please note that these events are open to absolutely everyone from beginner upwards. They are fun and the handicap system allows for players of different levels of ability to compete on roughly equal terms.
The format is to play tennis for a couple of hours, and then many players head over to the bar to enjoy a well earned drink (or two) in the bar, where non-players are welcome to join.

New Year 2022 Frosty Tournament Sunday 2nd January 10:30 - 13:00
This social tournament was on the first Sunday in 2022. There was a full complement of 24 players for the fun handicapped event that is for players of all abilities. Some Christmas and New Year excess weight was run off during the games. No frost was to be seen as near-record temperatures and little wind ensured excellent playing conditions. The tournament finished just before the first (albeit warm) downpour of 2022, necessitating an adjournment to the bar (and several social drinks).
Congratulations to Tania Winston and Andy Davidson who were the overall winners. Tania that’s two in a row! Thanks to Sandra Buckeldee for organising and Rob C for scoring.
